PGY 2

Hans Drawbert, MD

Raised in Northwestern Wisconsin as the youngest of 3 siblings, Dr. Drawbert graduated from St. Olaf College in May of 2016, completed his Masters in Stem Cell Biology at the University of Minnesota in 2017, and completed his medical training at the Florida International College of Medicine in April 2022. His research interested include Sports Medicine and General Orthopaedics.  Outside of Medicine, Dr. Drawbert’s hobbies include fly fishing, skiing, hockey, pheasant hunting, and he once ran with the bulls in Spain. He also enjoys exploring new breweries in DFW with his wife, and watching the Packers beat the Cowboys.

Mason Poffenbarger, MD

With his father being in the Army, Dr. Poffenbarger was raised in various states throughout the US and is the third of four children. In 2018, he completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University and his medical training was completed at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2022. Dr. Poffenbarger has several research projects geared towards closed reduction, outcomes after trauma surgery, implant selection, and revision of peri-implant fractures, and plans to complete an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship after residency.  In his free time, Dr. Poffenbarger enjoys spending time with his wife and caring for his newborn son, as well as indoor rock climbing, playing the guitar and drums, exercising, and playing online videogames with his brothers when he can.

Neil Werthmann, MD

Originally from Evansville, Indiana, Dr. Werthmann attended Miami University in Ohio to complete his undergraduate work, then received his Masters in Medical Physiology from Case Western before completing his Medical training at the University of Louisville in 2022. His current research and subspecialty interests include Sports Medicine, upper extremity cases, and trauma. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Werthmann enjoys golf, exercise, and spending time with his wife and two dogs. He also enjoys finding new places to eat in the fantastic Dallas restaurant scene.

PGY1

Edwin Dudoussat, MD

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Dudoussat completed his undergraduate degree at the University of New Orleans in Civil Engineering, and worked as a structural engineer for a few years before completing his medical training at Louisiana State University in 2022. During his time as an engineer, his job involved repelling from bridges to inspect them for deficiencies. His Orthopaedic interests are in hand and trauma, and his favorite procedure is anything involving a nail. His personal interests include fishing, range shooting, New Orleans Saints football, Mardi Gras, and World War II history, but mostly spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Caleb Shin, MD

Dr. Shin was born and raised in Houston, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin for undergrad and completed his medical training at Texas A&M in 2022. He is interested in pursuing further research in the field of reconstruction and sports medicine. In his free time, Dr. Shin enjoys playing pick-up basketball, golf, Valorant, and eating Korean food. His favorite part of residency is the enormous amount of autonomy and trust given to him early on as a resident and was more than ecstatic when he got to do his first knee replacement and hip replacement skin to skin. He also enjoys playing fantasy football with his co-residents and looks forward to retaining his title next year.

Samuel Stegelmann, MD

Born and raised in Goshen, Indiana, Dr. Stegelmann completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Miami, Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. He completed his medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine and then completed a Research Fellowship year in Toledo, Ohio before moving to Texas for residency. Dr. Stegelmann has diverse research experience with numerous publications in Orthopedic Trauma, joint replacement, spine, and Sports Medicine. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his co-residents, exploring DFW’s exceptional food scene, and all things sports (go Hoosiers and ‘Canes).
